Die Untersuchungskommission wurde durch die Resolution des UN-Menschenrechtsrats S-30/1 "Ensuring respect for international human rights law and international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel" vom 27.5.2021 eingesetzt.

Presseerklärung vom 27.10.2023, deren Schlussfolgerung lautet: "In line with its previous findings, the Commission emphasises that the only path towards ending the violence and achieving sustainable peace is through addressing the root causes of the conflict, including through ending the occupation of the Palestinian territory and recognising the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination."
