Trump verhängt wegen der Haftbefehle gegen Netanyahu und Gallant Sanktionen gegen den Internationalen Strafgerichtshof

Er erließ am 6.2.2025 eine umfangreiche Executive Order, die sich gegen das Personal des Internationalen Strafgerichtshof und seine unmittelbaren Familienangehörigen richtet und das Einfrieren von Vermögenswerten sowie Einreiseverbote umfasst. Er stützte sich auf Kompetenzen im Notstandsrecht und erklärte einen nationalen Notstand. Die Liste betroffener Personen im Anhang der Verordnung nennt an erster Stelle den Ankläger Karim Khan.

Der Internationale Strafgerichtshof gab hierzu auf seiner Website die folgende Erklärung ab:

"The ICC condemns the issuance by the US of an Executive Order seeking to impose sanctions on its officials and harm its independent and impartial judicial work. The Court stands firmly by its personnel and pledges to continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities across the world, in all Situations before it. We call on our 125 States Parties, civil society and all nations of the world to stand united for justice and fundamental human rights."

Am 7.2.2025 bekräftigten 79 Staaten in einer gemeinsamen Erklärung, die von Slowenien, Luxemburg, Mexiko, Sierra Leone und Vanuatu initiiert worden war,   "continued and unwavering support for the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the ICC". Auch Deutschland gehörte zu den Unterzeichnern.
